Domestic violence can include, but is not limited to:

  • Physical contact like hitting, kicking, slapping, or any other kind of physical force.
  • Threatening language, such as saying they want to hurt you, your children, or someone else you care about.
  • Rape, forced sex, or guilting you into sexual contact you do not wish to engage in.
  • Insults and other demeaning behavior.
  • Stalking, controlling behavior, or obsessively checking up on you when you are not around.

If you are currently in danger or experiencing any of the above behaviors from your spouse, please call the police. By reporting instances of domestic violence, you strengthen your case against your abuser and make it easier to get the help you deserve.

The national extension of the NC SAVAN service. This site lets you view all of NC SAVAN’s notification info online, as well as learn more about resources in your area regarding domestic violence, assault, and sexual abuse.

NC Address Confidentiality Program

Created by the North Carolina Department of Justice. The Address Confidentiality Program is designed to help victims keep their new address hidden from abusers so they cannot find them. Nearly 1,000 people currently take part in the program and it’s free to sign up. Intended for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, and other related crimes.
